Porcelain enamel is an attractive, durable bathtub surface, but it can chip. You can repair a chipped porcelain tub yourself with a few easily accessible materials. When the chip is in an area that is always dry, such as the outer surface of the tub, a single repair should do the job. However, the damage can need repeated repair when the chip is in the basin of the tub. Battlefield 3 black box multiplayer crack game.

  1. Dry the chipped area thoroughly with a hairdryer. The surface must be completely dry so that the repair compound can stick.

  2. Sand the chipped area with 220-grit sandpaper until the edges are smooth. To avoid scratches on the surrounding porcelain surface, sand only in the damaged area.

  3. Clean the sanded area with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Let the surface dry completely before you apply the porcelain repair compound.

  4. Mix the porcelain repair compound and high-gloss alkyd-based paint on a piece of clean tile or glass. Stir the mixture with a wooden dowel. Add a little bit of color at a time until the mixture is the same color as the porcelain surface.

  5. Scoop up a small amount of the compound mixture with a putty knife and apply it to the center of the chipped area. Spread the compound toward the edges of the chip and gradually add compound until it covers the edges. Scrape off excess compound until the chip's edges are flush with the surrounding tub surface.

  6. Let the compound dry for at least 12 hours. Blend the edges of the dried compound with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.

Porcelain is smooth, glossy and, to a major extent, strong. However, it can chip and crack like any ceramic material. A chip in the surface will create a hole in the finish, which may expose the metal underneath. Eventually, after being exposed to water for years, uncovered metal will corrode and rust. Fortunately, a hole in porcelain can be fixed with a porcelain repair kit. With prompt action and the right porcelain repair kit, you can fix the hole without replacing the sink or harming any of the porcelain finish.

1

Choose a color-matched porcelain repair kit, which will match the color of the porcelain sink. Mix the repair compound with alkyd paint if you can not find a match. Test the alkyd paint by applying it to an inconspicuous area, then wipe it off with a clean, lint-free cloth.

2

Sand the hole with a medium-grit emery cloth to remove rust and uneven edges, until the area is smooth. Avoid sanding beyond the area of the hole. Wipe off any excess pieces of porcelain that are lingering inside or around the hole.

3

Clean the the hole and the surrounding area with a lint-free cloth dampened with water and a gentle soap. Remove all dirt, dust and debris, which could prevent the repair compound from adhering. Let the water dry, or dry it with a blow dryer for a minute.

4

Put on a pair of work gloves that will protect your hands. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to mix the repair compound.

5

Apply some of the repair compound into the hole with a single-edged razor blade. Layer the repair compound in the hole, until it is flush with the surrounding surface. Smooth the patch with the razor blade, then let it dry.

6

Dip a cotton swab in fingernail polish remover, then rub it against the edges of the patch to remove excess repair compound.
