  • I seldom drift to the home section at the mall but I decided two summers ago to browse around if they have slim blenders available because every summer, I wanted to make a smoothie and my fave smoothie kiosk decided to pack up and be somewhere else instead
  • So when I found JML Power Blender, I gave it ago
  • I liked that as presented on the box, it has a tumbler design which was a plus because my mom gave me a condition that if I'm to buy a counter top appliance, it will not displace her 'resident' ones
  • I also noticed and I think the sale person forgot to tell me too, if you plan to put ice cubes, it will better to few small cubes or just very cold water because I when I tried with a handful of cubes together with the fruits, the motor at the base made a sound like I can tell I was overtaxing the motor
  • I thought I've destroyed the unit but when I approached the sales person the next day to check, he told me, not to put ice cubes but crushed ice or just cold water because it will tax the motor

I’ve seen a lot of power blenders (all-in-one functions too) but I didn’t order and just waited from a different blender that would suit my needs at home.
  • I seldom drift to the home section at the mall but I decided two summers ago to browse around if they have slim blenders available because every summer, I wanted to make a smoothie and my fave smoothie kiosk decided to pack up and be somewhere else instead. So when I found JML Power Blender, I gave it ago. I liked that as presented on the box, it has a tumbler design which was a plus because my mom gave me a condition that if I’m to buy a counter top appliance, it will not displace her ‘resident’ ones. Good thing, JML Blender was very portable too. I’ve achieved some middle ground with this product which was another plus.

  • Being portable, it was easy to attach the tumbler to its base. I had to let the sale person demonstrate it to me and later, I tried it on their display product. At home, with my new product, the lock can easily be slip in place and then twist (toward you) to lock and twist out to detach after blending.

  • This blender has one button which can take getting used to because if you’re someone who will easy get rattled at the usual sounds of a blender, well, you’ll have to get use to it or buy a different blender. At the same time, while pressing the button, I had to hold base while blending process goes on. This is because the button is styled differently.

Once I released my thumb on the button, the process stops. It starts up again when I pressed the button. If I remember our old blender it had two buttons for speed which operated like a switch. Here, I had to keep my thumb pressed on the button to blend until all the fruits I’ve added were completely in smoothie form. It has only one top speed so I could press several times until I’m satisfied that all the fruits were blended. I also noticed and I think the sale person forgot to tell me too, if you plan to put ice cubes, it will better to few small cubes or just very cold water because I when I tried with a handful of cubes together with the fruits, the motor at the base made a sound like I can tell I was overtaxing the motor. I must have because during blending, I saw the base glow yellow and smoke started to filter out of the base. I then felt the warmth around the base where the motor was located.

To be safe, I immediately unplugged the blender before I detached the tumbler. I thought I’ve destroyed the unit but when I approached the sales person the next day to check, he told me, not to put ice cubes but crushed ice or just cold water because it will tax the motor. He didn’t find anything else wrong with my unit when he tested it.

I also found out that while using this tumbler blender - it was better to dice the fruits and to keep track on the gradation on the side of the tumbler as my guide so I’ll know if I’ve reached the max capacity of the tumbler. I didn’t pay attention to it due to my excitement and it was another instance for the base to glow yellow again.

  • For me, I liked the compact design because I really wanted a unit that I can easily store inside our cabinet after use. It also meant I don’t have to overload the tumbler with lots of fruit cuts.

The fruits I’ve used so far were mangoes, avocados, kiwis and bananas, red dragonfruits, oranges, Chinese watermelons and red watermelons. I’m not fond of strawberries or cherries because they always remind me of cough syrup and blueberries aren’t available at my end anyway.

I found out it was much better to dice-cut fruits to accommodate the slim design and since my unit came with two additional free tumblers, I can add other fruits for friends with their prefer choice of fruits so there was no bother or waiting and rinsing in between. They can use the individualize tumblers too. With a quick search online, a fruit smoothie recipe is always available and this unit has its little recipe book too.

  • Since the tumbler is detachable from the blender base, it has a flip top straw too. I didn’t need to transfer to a different tumbler after blending if I brought the tumbler when I go for my early morning walks. The sip straw is hard plastic and I didn’t find it comfortable drinking from there so what I do is, twist open the cover and drink up which was much easier for me.

I liked this product because it’s portable. I can bring it with me if I go for another sleepover. The plug is three-pronged type so it’s best to have a traveler adapter on hand too.

At home, I can easily detach the tumbler from its small compact base then put it back inside the box and store inside our cabinet. Thus freeing our counter top with additional devices that will easily make our kitchen appear cluttered.

Care instructions are easy, I just easily rinsed it with water and let it dry on the rack. The three small blades are surgical steel according to the sales person so it won’t rust.

When I was at the mall two summers ago, to purchase a slim-type blender, there were two brands out. I don’t recall the other brand or if it was also from JML too but taller tumbler type. I prefer this one, the shorter type because my storage cabinet is low and do have space to keep taller tumblers. I went to slim blenders because the bulky looking ones available at the mall were just going to eat more space on our counter so, space-wise, JML addressed that need. I could store it back to the cabinet easily when not it use.

When I’ve noticed on two occasions the flare and the abnormally rising warmth coming from inside the base of the blender, I was puzzled by it. On the third time (back then still using ice cubes), the motor started then stopped completely. There was trace of a smell of plastic coming from the base of the blender. I removed all the contents and the blender wasn’t working so this immediately told me something was wrong. I went to the merchandiser the following day and he tested the unit, and to my surprise the blender functioned properly. I wondered if it was because the unit had time to`rest’ which was why it was functioning again. He said it’s possible. He also asked me what happened so I told him what I’ve done, he suggested to use crush/shave ice but mindful of the load as well. He said cold water was fine so I’m using cold water. Hope that helps.

Hello Armando,
I suggest you visit SM Cubao section where you bought it and have one of the SM merchandiser to assist you. However, if you mentioned you lost your receipt, I don’t know how else they’ll be able to help you out. If you paid by credit card, maybe the credit card receipt may have the information there. May I also suggest, which can be helpful for future appliances purchases, scan the receipt and keep it for your records. This way, if you lose the original, you still have something to present to them as proof the product is under warranty for service.
